About Our Organisation
The Besos Tordera River Consortium (CBT) is a local public administration uniting 68 entities, including 64 municipalities in the Barcelona region with a population of around 2.4 million inhabitants. Collaborators like Diputació de Barcelona (DIBA), Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB), Consell Comarcal del Vallès Oriental, and Consorci per la Gestió de Residus del Vallès Oriental work towards preserving and enhancing river health. CBT focuses on sanitation, river basin conservation, and environmental education, contributing to cleaner waterways and communities.
Our Role in KNOWING
CBT operates within the Innovation Department, managing innovation agreements, pilot plants, and research into wastewater trends. As part of KNOWING, we offer an essential regional perspective, collaborating with various partners to develop effective models that encompass sewerage networks, surface flows, and rivers. Our involvement contributes to predicting discharges through overflow points and enhancing flood management strategies, especially in locations like Granollers. We address the challenges of reliable hydraulic modeling, necessitating fieldwork and sensorization to calibrate hydraulic models accurately.
Why KNOWING Matters to Us
KNOWING holds immense value for CBT as it delves deeper into pluvial and river floods. Our role in managing the sewerage network in the Granollers area aligns with the project’s goals, enhancing flood modeling and management solutions. Cooperation with Granollers and Aquatec enables us to identify shortcomings in our sanitation systems and explore cutting-edge solutions. This collaboration offers a platform to identify replicable solutions for other municipalities. Moreover, KNOWING provides a unique opportunity to engage with fellow experts, foster new collaborations, and exchange knowledge, aligning with our commitment to sustainable water management.
