About Our Organisation
Baltic Environmental Forum (BEF) Estonia is a non-governmental organization working in the areas of environmental protection and nature conservation since 1995. Our main aim is to preserve sustainable environment through raising awareness and promoting environmental management to increase knowledge and improve skills of different stakeholders.
We have experienced experts in our team and also over the years we have made a lot of connections with different representatives of the society. In the last years we have paid more attention to environmental education and raising knowledge in different stakeholders. In the frame of projects, we have compiled handbooks and informative brochures.
Our mission is to bring together and offer expertise to people, businesses, research institutes and government agencies in Estonia, thereby creating a social dialogue and raising environmental awareness of different stakeholders.
Our Role in KNOWING
In the KNOWING project we are a strategic partner to Tallinn city. The aim of the project’s planned activities in Tallinn is to mitigate the risks caused by heat waves and increase the population’s awareness and coping skills. We will be developing a package of measures to adapt to heat waves in the project pilot district Väike-Õismäe in Tallinn. BEF will be developing, together with other project experts, a summary of the necessary implementing measures to adapt to climate change and to increase awareness and administrative capacity related to climate change, especially heat waves.
BEF will be amongst others be involved in awareness raising activities and surveys to be held in Tallinn. Our role is also to disseminate the project results to other Estonian municipalities that have similar living districts.
Why KNOWING Matters to Us
Heat waves are getting more and more common and therefore we need measures to adapt to this and to raise the awareness of our citizens. KNOWING gives for this an excellent opportunity.
