The KNOWING project is proud to introduce its new Playful Trainings Blueprint, an innovative presentation and learning format that helps stakeholders better understand and shape climate adaptation and mitigation strategies in their region.
These modular and interactive materials combine scientific content with storytelling and scenario-based exercises. They aim to support a wide range of actors within regions that are working to develop effective responses to climate change – including local planners, civil society organisations, and business representatives. These actors can use the Playful Training format to engage the public and other relevant stakeholders with complex climate dynamics, exploring possible trade-offs, and discussing potential risks and unintended consequences of climate responses.

Fostering a practical understanding of climate action
At the core of the Playful Trainings is a practical understanding of climate action. Participants gain:
- Cognitive knowledge of climate impacts and policies,
- Orientation knowledge tailored to regional contexts and stakeholder dynamics,
- Action knowledge to evaluate solutions and negotiate trade-offs collaboratively.
The training modules are adaptable to different regional needs and levels of climate policy progress. This includes early-stage regions to those that are already well advanced in developing and implementing transition strategies. The Playful Trainings provide ready-to-use workshop formats, support for facilitators, and guidance on managing stakeholder tensions and fostering shared ownership.
By encouraging critical thinking, cooperation, and practical scenario testing, the Playful Trainings empower stakeholders to design robust, locally grounded climate pathways. All training materials, facilitator guides and further resources are already available here. Discover how the Playful Trainings can support your climate planning efforts.
About KNOWING
KNOWING is a Horizon Europe project that develops tools, models and participatory formats to support climate-transformation. By combining scientific analysis with local knowledge and stakeholder input, the project supports regions and sectors to understand climate risks, assess options, and design effective, inclusive pathways for change.
